FAQ

What causes jet lag?+

Your internal circadian clock stays on origin time while daylight, meals and social cues follow the destination. Symptoms last until the clock catches up.

Why is flying east harder?+

Going east requires advancing the clock (sleeping earlier), which the body does more slowly — roughly 1 h per day versus 1.5 h per day westbound.

How does light help?+

Light is the strongest signal for the body clock. Light at the right moment shifts it in the direction you need; light at the wrong moment pushes it the wrong way.

Do you recommend melatonin or sleeping pills?+

No. syncjetlag only uses natural levers: light, sleep timing, meals and caffeine. Talk to a doctor about any medication.

What if my trip is shorter than 48 hours?+

It's usually better to stay on your origin schedule. The planner switches to short-stay mode automatically.
